New York loves Willow Creek olive oil

The robust and pleasantly complex flavours of Willow Creek Olive Estate’s Directors’ Reserve delighted the judges of the New York International Olive Oil Competition who awarded it a much coveted gold medal.  More than 700 extra virgin olive oils from every olive oil producing region in the world vied for these desirable awards.

“We are very pleased that international judges honoured our olive oil with such acclaim.  Awards at this level serve as a valuable barometer of the quality of our product and reaffirms that our extra virgin olive oil carries its weight among the best in the world,” says Andries Rabie, Managing Director of Willow Creek.  “We are especially proud of the fact that our oil from the Southern Hemisphere competed so well against those from the Northern Hemisphere which were six months fresher due to their earlier ripening season.  However, the best prize of all is sharing our passion with olive oil lovers around the world.”

According to Dr. Gino Celletti, chairperson of the Monocultivar Olive Oil Council and chief judge of this leading competition, freshness was the distinctive criteria that drew the favour of the team of highly qualified judges – a quality measure that is non-negotiable when it comes to Willow Creek’s products.

The Directors’ Reserve, undeniably Willow Creek’s flagship olive oil, is a blend of the Coratina, Frantoio and Favoloza cultivars and entices consumers with complex aromas of artichoke, tomato vines and walnuts. Its intense character makes it the ideal companion for Carpaccio, the perfect marinade for flame-grilled steak and an excellent flavour enhancer for winter soups.

The Directors’ Reserve is available at leading retailers countrywide alongside the Willow Creek Estate Blend in the unique squeeze bottle, the Nuy Valley extra virgin olive oil, as well as various flavoured olive oils.
